Prior to the 20th Century, a physician, dentist Diamond creek<\/a> , surgeon, chiropractor Diamond Creek<\/a> and midwife were all often the same person \u2013 hence the traditional term for a doctor hanging their diploma on the wall and \u201changing out their shingle\u201d. However, as time went by, more and more specialists began to appear \u2013 doctors with expertise in certain areas, such as cardiology or neurology.<\/p>\n Fortunately for the residents of Nillumbik, these developments were not too far away from the district, and in early 1945 there were still only three doctors in Diamond Creek<\/a>\u2013 Dr Cordner Snr in Greensborough (who by this stage was starting to scale down his activities), Dr Loosle in Eltham and Mr Donald in Diamond Creek \u2013 but development north of Heidelberg was really only beginning.<\/p>\n In 1928 Dr W.G Sinclair returned from the war with his wife and two children, and moved into a house and consulting rooms in Grimshaw St Greensborough, which still stands today \u2013 these were the first permanent houses built in the area. He and Dr Cordner continued to work together until 1939 when the latter moved back to his own home and practice in Station St Fairfield.<\/p>\n By this time, more and more specialists were appearing in the area \u2013 and although they did not move into Greensborough or Diamond Creek they did make regular visits there – as shown by the notices in the Heidelberg News from time to time.<\/p>\n In early 1974, Dr Goldenberg purchased a house in Fyffe St and moved out to join with Dr Donald in the new consulting rooms \u2013 although at this stage it was not yet called the Diamond Creek Medical Centre.<\/p>\n
