| My presidential initiatives are about Creating Connections: | ||
| • | connections among our libraries | |
| • | connections between the communities we serve and those who make funding and policy decisions | |
| • | connections with prospective library workers, especially those in groups underrepresented in the profession | |
| • | connections that allow ALA members to benefit from and contribute to their association and the profession in new ways | |
| My initiatives address three critical issues: | ||
| • | Advocacy Advocacy on behalf of all types of libraries. Our libraries form an integrated ecosystem that collectively offer lifelong learning opportunities better than any other agency in American society can! |

| • | Diversity We need to develop a library workforce that reflects the society we serve. We will work to engage college students who might otherwise not consider librarianship as a career. |

| • | Member participation New technologies, new ways of communicating, open new opportunities for members to make the most of their ALA experience. |
